Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 2.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 2.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Daniel Hartsig, joined WasteCap Resource Solutions in 2017 as the Director of Project Management and took over as Executive Director in 2020.  When Daniel joined WasteCap, he brought over a decade of experience in sustainable building design, construction and business operations around the world.  Daniel now focuses on guiding local facility and construction managers through waste reduction efforts by providing analysis, tracking, reporting and recognition through zero waste certifications.

WasteCap Resource Solutions is an environmental non-profit dedicated to turning waste into resources.  Founded in 1996, WasteCap assists organizations in their zero waste journey, providing solutions and oversight for construction & demolition teams seeking to increase their material reuse and waste diversion efforts.

Course Title: Construction and Demolition Waste Management

Course Description: This two-hour course focuses on reducing and managing construction and demolition waste. The course begins with a discussion on the magnitude and impact of construction waste generation and the efforts to reduce it before diving into specific strategies (recycling, reusing, reducing, salvaging, etc.) to reduce waste. Then, the course will discuss best practices in waste management and how to educate teams to maximize the impact and efficiency of these practices.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to analyze the magnitude of construction waste generated in the United States and discuss public and private efforts to reduce construction waste.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to identify the economic and environmental impacts of keeping construction waste out of landfills and adopt strategies to recycle, reuse, deconstruct/salvage, and reduce.

Learners will be able to locate sustainable markets for wood, concrete, metal, glass and other building components, and adopt best practices to succeed in construction waste management.
