All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Continuing Education Credit Information

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 6.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 6.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in Missouri. The Missouri Board of APEPLSPLA does not pre-approve courses or activities; determination of qualifying activities must be made by the licensee. 

The American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System has approved this course for 6.0 HSW LUs (Sponsor No. J885). Only full participation is reportable to the AIA/CES. 

The International Code Council has approved this event for .6 CEUs in the specialty area of Fire (Preferred Provider No. 1232). 

Attendance will be monitored, and attendance certificates will be available after the webinar for those who attend the entire course and score a minimum 80% on the quiz that follows the course (multiple attempts allowed).

Joseph Iliff, CBO

Building Inspector for SAFEbuilt, Inc.

Mr. Iliff has been a certified building official for 10+ years serving communities in Texas, Illinois, and Missouri. He has taught classes on the residential, building, and property maintenance codes with a focus on preparing students for certification exams and effective administration. He earned an undergraduate degree in Urban Planning and Development from Ball State University.

Course Title: Complying with Missouri Fire Protection and Building Codes

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This six-hour course examines fire protection and life safety design codes applicable in Missouri, occupancy classifications, means of egress design, and fire protection features and equipment. The course will then identify requirements for alterations to existing buildings and explore energy code updates with a focus on electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to identify national, state and local fire codes that are applicable in Missouri, including the NFPA codes, the IBC, IRC, IFC, and local codes and ordinances, and discuss their scope, purpose, adoption and enforcement.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to determine building occupancies based on general requirements and criteria and explain how changes of use and occupancy affect fire protection requirements.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to calculate and determine occupant loads to make informed design decisions related to exist access, arrangement and discharges.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to explore applicable energy code updates affecting fire life safety requirements in commercial, multifamily and single-family buildings and those related to electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
