Zane Clark, P.E., S.E.

Mr. Clark, is a consulting engineer with extensive experience in the design of mid-rise load bearing cold-formed steel structures and a deep familiarity with the codes, specifications, and framing standards applicable to these buildings. Having consulted for both contractors and architects, he brings to the table solutions that work for both. He has been a speaker for the Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute (CFSEI) Expo and webinars and is active with the ASCE/SEI Committee on Cold-Formed Steel Members, which is producing a design guide for CFS structures.

Josh Garton, P.E., S.E.

Project Manager and Team Leader for McClure's Enclosures and Interiors Structural Services Team

McClure Engineering Company has 14 offices in 5 states, practicing in 49 states. Mr. Garton has over 9 years of experience designing cold-formed steel systems throughout the country. He has a background specifically in non-bearing exterior framing, interior framing and ceiling systems, complex curved structural cold-formed steel, panelized and modular construction, high seismic applications, and cladding design.

Course Title: Cold-Formed Steel Design in Load-Bearing and Nonload-Bearing Applications

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This six-hour course analyzes structural design using cold-formed steel for both load-bearing and nonload-bearing applications. The course begins with a focus on cold-formed steel construction fundamentals before closely examining the American Iron and Steel Institute’s (AISI) standards, specifically S100 on member design and S240 and S400 on framing design. The course will also explore the design of lateral systems, methods and designs for connections, and best practices.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to reference and discuss AISI S100 information on tension, compression, flexure and shear forces and how they impact member design.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to reference and discuss AISI S240 and S400 standards for floor, ceiling, wall and roof framing design.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to utilize screws, bolts, welded connections, power actuated fasteners and other connecting methods to fasten elements to specific substrate materials.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to identify common errors and problems with cold-formed steel design and analyze the design of difficult details such as knee walls and parapets.
