All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Course Title: Code-Compliant Design for Residential Energy Efficiency

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This course provides learners with an understanding of the codes, standards, and certifications for residential energy efficiency (ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, Passive House, etc.) before diving into the specific design strategies and practices that satisfy the requirements of the codes and standards. The course provides specific focus on building thermal envelopes and incorporating energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, electrical power and lighting systems. The course concludes with a discussion on energy retrofits, repairs, alterations, and additions.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1: Learners will be able to reference the ASHRAE standard 90.1, explain the development of the International Energy Efficiency Code, and recognize the standards of Energy Star, Passive House, ZERH and other certifications.

Learning Objective 2: Learners will be able to identify and satisfy requirements related to insulation and fenestration, utilize prescriptive insulation, and incorporate fireplaces and fuel-burning appliances.

Learning Objective 3: Learners will be able to identify and comply with code requirements related to service hot water systems, pools, spas, control systems, mechanical ventilation systems, ductwork insulation and sealing.

Learning Objective 4: Learners will be able to determine code requirements for energy retrofits in existing homes, building additions, alterations, repairs, maintenance and changes of occupancy.
