All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Webinars are presented via GoToWebinar, an easy-to-use application that can be run on most systems and tablets. This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 6.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 6.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Heather Holdridge, EIT

Associate AIA LEED Fellow, Associate Partner, Sustainability Director

Ms. Holdridge, LEED Fellow, EIT, Associate AIA is the Sustainability Director at Lake|Flato Architects. Leveraging her background in mechanical engineering, she directs all Lake|Flato teams in establishing sustainability goals. Ms. Holdridge devises strategies and systems to realize those goals under programs such as LEED, the 2030 Challenge, and the Living Building Challenge. She works closely with teams to evaluate passive systems and performs energy modeling throughout the design process. Ms. Holdridge received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Business Administration degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio.

Course Title: Building Systems Science and Performance

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This six-hour course examines the science and performance of building systems and provides strategies to optimize efficiency and occupant health. Specifically, the course will focus on harmonizing building systems, measuring and monitoring building performance, and increasing efficiency, performance and occupant comfort.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to explore the effects buildings may have on occupant health and wellness, adopt strategies to measure and maintain occupant safety and comfort, and discuss aspirational goals regarding health and comfort.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to describe the harmonizing of building systems, such as heat flow, air flow, and moisture flow, and understand how it may vary daily and seasonally.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to measure energy, lighting and water conservation performance and monitor renewable energy systems.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to utilize energy modeling, energy codes, tax and utility incentives, and efficiency certification standards to improve building performance.
