An Overview of Per-and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in the Environment

Seetha Coleman-Kammula, PhD, President and Executive Director of PFAS Solutions.
Dr. Coleman-Kammula, one of the co-founders of the center is a serial entrepreneur and a former Senior Vice President of Basell, a Royal Dutch Shell and BASF joint venture. She started as a research scientist in Amsterdam and held diverse positions in 4 countries managing R&D, strategy, and business units. After retiring from Shell Dr. Coleman-Kammula served on Dow Chemical Company’s sustainability external advisory board and founded Simply Sustain LLC, a management consulting company in sustainability. She currently leads the Center for PFAS Solutions.

Course Description: This two-hour course provides an overview of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), where they are found in the environment, how they got there, how they are transported, the dangers associated with them, the regulations surrounding them and how to remove them at both a commercial and individual level.
