Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

J. Paul Guyer, P.E., R.A
Paul Guyer is a registered civil engineer, mechanical engineer, fire protection engineer and architect with 35 years of experience designing buildings and related infrastructure. For an additional nine years he was a principal staff advisor to the California Legislature on capital outlay and infrastructure issues. He is a graduate of Stanford University and has held numerous national, state and local offices with the American Society of Civil Engineers, Architectural Engineering Institute and National Society of Professional Engineers. He is a Fellow of ASCE, AEI and CABE (U.K.).

Course Title: An Introduction to Solar Cooling Systems

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This two-hour course serves as an introduction to solar-powered cooling systems for design professionals. The course will identify and explain three main types of cooling systems, provide guidance on system sizing, and discuss system controls, pumps, piping, valves, solar collectors and other design considerations.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to review the properties and components of different types of solar-powered cooling systems for buildings, including absorption cooling, Rankine cycle heat engine cooling, and desiccant cooling systems.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to estimate the appropriate system size and identify the proper system controls.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to review the pumps, piping and valve designs and requirements.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to analyze solar collectors, alternate cooling methods, and other design considerations for solar cooling systems.
