Course Title: Air-Source Heat Pumps, Split Systems, and Energy Recovery Ventilators

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This course provides useful information and guidance to assist design professionals in incorporating air-source heat pumps and energy recovery ventilation systems into new and existing buildings. Specifically, the course discusses the science, principles and operation of air-source heat pumps and energy recovery ventilation systems which allow for efficient heating, cooling and ventilation of a building.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to review the science and operation of air-source heat pumps, mini-splits, and ducted units for space heating and energy recovery ventilators for provision of fresh air.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to understand how heat pumps work (heat pump process cycle, terminology, measures of performance), calculate the coefficient of performance (COP), and discuss heat pump performance in cold climates.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to identify the different types of recovery ventilators (heat and energy) and their benefits, as well as understand their operations and ductwork design.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to consider integrating ducted air source heat pumps with energy recovery ventilators and whether to duct together or separately.
