All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited. 

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher. 

Webinars are presented via GoToWebinar, an easy-to-use application that can be run on most systems and tablets. Continuing Education Information

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 3.0 PDHs for professional engineers, 3.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects, and 3.0 HSW continuing education hours for landscape architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Alejandra “Alex” Warner

Architectural Engineering Access Specialist

Ms. Warner has dedicated over 30 years to planning, designing, and constructing public facilities, focusing on accessible design for the past 25 years. Her goal is to ensure that individuals of all abilities can enjoy the facilities in the City of San Diego. Throughout her career, Ms. Warner has worked in various departments, including Engineering, Parks, and Public Works, and is currently with the Sustainability and Mobility Department, specifically in the ADA Compliance and Accessibility Section. Her influence extends beyond her current role. Ms. Warner actively collaborates on the development of Street Design Guidelines, Curb ramp design guidelines and City standards, Municipal codes, and Public Rights of Way policies. She oversees the city’s accessibility compliance program and implements improvements outlined in the Facilities and Right-of-Way (ROW) Transition Plan, demonstrating her comprehensive approach to accessibility. Ms. Warner holds a Master of Science degree in Architectural Engineering and is a Certified Access Specialist. She reviews design and construction documents, provides training, and develops new standards and guidelines to ensure compliance with accessibility regulations. Additionally, Ms. Warner serves as a board member of California’s Certified Access Specialists Institute.

Course Title: ADA Standards for Site Design

Delivery Method: Live Online 

Course Description: This three-hour course explains how to apply ADA accessibility standards to site design, from early planning through construction and inspection. The program reviews regulatory requirements and practical design strategies for accessible routes, sidewalks, curb ramps, grading, and constrained sites to help support compliant design and construction of outdoor environments.

Learning Objectives: 

Learning Objective 1: Learners will be able to identify ADA regulations and technical standards that apply to site features, including sidewalks, curb ramps, stairs, and doorways.

Learning Objective 2: Learners will be able to design accessible routes that address grading, spot elevations, and drainage while accommodating steep terrain, utilities, and limited site space.

Learning Objective 3: Learners will be able to incorporate accessibility requirements into civil drawings and construction documents to support effective plan review and permitting.

Learning Objective 4: Learners will be able to evaluate site conditions during construction and inspections and coordinate with contractors to resolve unforeseen accessibility challenges and maintain compliance.
