This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 6.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 6.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Matt Love
Chief Building Code Official for Cabarrus County Construction Standards in North CarolinaMr. Love obtained his bachelor of science degree in Construction Technologies with a concentration in Community and Regional Planning from Appalachian State University. He is also a licensed general contractor. Mr. Love currently holds a Level III Standard Certificate in Building, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical and Level I Standard Fire Certificate from the North Carolina Department of Insurance. He teaches Building and Plumbing I, II and III Standard Courses to North Carolina Building Inspectors as well as continuing education courses for the North Carolina Building Inspectors’ Association. Mr. Love is currently on the Executive Board of the North Carolina Building Inspectors’ Association as the president-elect, and he also serves on the Education Committee as the co-chair and Site-Development Committee.

Course Description: This six-hour course provides an in-depth examination of the 2024 International Plumbing Code (IPC), focusing on new developments, enforcement, core definitions, and the requirements found in chapters 2-15. The course explores code requirements related to fixtures, faucets, fittings, water heaters, buried piping, sanitary drainage, indirect waste, vents, stacks, non-potable systems, irrigation and more.
Learning Objectives:
Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to explain the development process of the 2024 International Plumbing Code (IPC) and the roles and responsibilities of code officials in permitting, inspections, and compliance enforcement.
Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to identify and discuss significant changes in the 2024 IPC, including new requirements for buried piping support, tracer wire installation, vacuum testing, and fixture updates.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to analyze chapters 2–5 of the IPC, covering definitions, general regulations, fixtures, faucets, fittings, and water heater specifications.
Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to analyze and apply requirements from chapters 6–15, including those on water supply, sanitary drainage, special piping systems, non-potable and irrigation systems, and drainage standards.
