Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 4.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 4.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in all states.

Building & Zoning Director for Village of Swansea, Illinois

Joseph Iliff has been a building official, building inspector, and city planner for more than 25 years, serving cities in Indiana, Texas, Missouri, and Illinois. He earned an undergraduate degree in Urban Planning and Development from Ball State University. He holds certifications as a residential building inspector, building official, city planner, and floodplain manager. He has taught classes on the residential, building, and property maintenance codes with a focus on preparing students for certification exams and effective administration.

Course Title: 2021 International Building Code: Special Inspections and Construction Safeguards

Course Description: This 4-hour course focuses on chapters 17 and 33 of the 2021 International Building Code: Special Inspections and Tests & Safeguards During Construction. The course will discuss the requirements of special inspections, testing procedures, construction safeguards and demolition guidelines.

Learners will be able to determine the required special inspections and tests and understand their requirements.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to review the appropriate procedures for in-situ load tests and preconstruction load tests.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to review the required construction safeguards regarding sanitary conditions, pedestrian protections and fire protection.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to reference and understand the parameters for demolition.
