All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Continuing Education Credit Information

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 4.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 4.0 continuing education hours for licensed architects in all states that allow non-HSW coursework. This course is not approved in New York.

Building & Zoning Director for Village of Swansea, Illinois

Joseph Iliff has been a building official, building inspector, and city planner for more than 25 years, serving cities in Indiana, Texas, Missouri, and Illinois. He earned an undergraduate degree in Urban Planning and Development from Ball State University. He holds certifications as a residential building inspector, building official, city planner, and floodplain manager. He has taught classes on the residential, building, and property maintenance codes with a focus on preparing students for certification exams and effective administration.

Course Title: 2021 International Building Code: Administration and Enforcement

Course Description: This 4-hour course focuses on chapter 1, part 2 of the 2021 International Building Code: Administration and Enforcement. The course will explain the levels and roles of various enforcement agencies and authorities, enforcement actions that may be taken in response to violations, the appeals process, legal considerations and more.

Learners will be able to explain the roles of the Code Official and legal authorities in the administration and enforcement of building code.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to cooperate with the appropriate Department of Building Safety and understand their duties.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to discuss the right of entry of the Code Enforcement Officer and the personal liability protection of building officials.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to examine enforcement actions and orders in response to building code violations and review the appeals process.
