All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Webinars are presented via GoToWebinar, an easy-to-use application that can be run on most systems and tablets. Continuing Education Credit Information

This seminar and concurrent webcast are open to the public and are designed to qualify for 7.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 7.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in New York. Professionals seeking continuing education credits in other states may be able to claim the hours earned at this event; please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

HalfMoon Education is deemed an approved continuing education sponsor for New York engineers and architects via its registration with the American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System (Regulations of the Commissioner §68.14(i)(2) and §69.6(i)(2)). 

The American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System has approved this course for 7.0 HSW LUs (Sponsor No. J885). Only full participation is reportable to the AIA/CES.

The International Code Council has approved this event for .7 CEUs in the specialty area of Building (Preferred Provider No. 1232).

Attendance will be monitored, and attendance certificates will be available after the event for those who attend the entire course and score a minimum 80% on the quiz that follows the course (multiple attempts allowed).

Principal of The Pakatar Group

The Pakatar Group, a firm dedicated to the built environment. Mr. Pakatar is an industry veteran with several years of experience teaching home performance and construction-related topics. He holds certifications from the International Code Council, the Association of Energy Engineers, the Building Performance Institute, the U.S. Green Building Council and RESNET. Mr. Pakatar is a certified code enforcement officer in New York State and holds the energy code inspector and plans examiner credentials with ICC. Over the past 10 years He has prepared and delivered training to code enforcement officers, design professionals and other construction industry stakeholders throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Mr. Pakatar has taught throughout the United States. Having participated in creating protocols on several pertinent topics, He is considered a subject matter expert on those topics.

Course Description: This course examines and explains compliance standards for the New York State Residential Code, including building planning, building envelope construction, energy efficiency, and mechanical, fuel, and plumping and electrical systems.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to reference and comply with the 2020 New York Residential Code provisions related to fire-resistant construction, exterior walls, unit and garage separation, and means of egress.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to reference and comply with the 2020 New York Residential Code provisions impacting foundations, framing, fastening, roof assemblies, fireplaces and chimneys.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to reference and interpret the 2020 New York Residential Code energy efficiency provisions, including insulation, building thermal envelope, fenestration, and lighting.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to reference and interpret 2020 New York Residential Code provisions governing ventilation, fire sprinkler systems, drains, electrical outlets and plumbing fixtures.
