The Iowa Electrical Examining Board has approved this course for 7.0 CEUs (7.0

Mr. Chambers is a State of Iowa Electrical Examining Board approved instructor and a licensed Class A master electrician with more than 47 years of experience in all areas of the trade. Teaching is one of his greatest passions and he loves passing on knowledge and skills to others. He taught electrical apprentices for the Associated Builders and Contractors of Iowa for 30 years. Mr. Chambers currently teaches classes on the National Electrical Code Update, license exam preparation, grounding and bonding, electrical theory, electric motors, transformers, motor controls, health care facilities wiring, troubleshooting, residential wiring, commercial and industrial wiring, agricultural wiring, ampacity calculations, conduit and box sizing calculations, voltage drop calculations, commercial service calculations, overcurrent protection, the NEC for PV installers, swimming pool wiring, and arc flash safety. He has taught classes for seven Iowa community colleges, many Iowa industries, the University of Iowa, UI Hospitals and Clinics, the VA Medical Center, and private classes for electrical contractors. Mr. Chambers is also a past president and past membership chair of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors, Iowa Chapter. On an unrelated note, He is a two-time inductee into the Iowa Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame.

Course Description: This course examines National Electrical Code 2020 provisions found in Chapters 1-9 covering requirements for electrical installations, wiring and protection, grounding and bonding, wiring methods and materials, equipment, special occupancies, special equipment, special equipment, special conditions, communication circuits, and tables, with special attention given to recent updates specific to Iowa.

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to reference and discuss requirements for electrical installations, including clearances and free space requirements around equipment, under the 2020 NEC as adopted in Iowa.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to reference and discuss compliance standards for wiring protection, grounding and bonding in Chapter 2 of the 2020 NEC as adopted in Iowa.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to reference and discuss compliance standards for wiring methods, equipment for general use and special occupancies from Chapters 3, 4, and 5 of the 2020 NEC as adopted in Iowa.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to explain compliance standards for special equipment, special conditions, and communication circuits, and conductor fill and raceway calculations, per 2020 NEC requirements as adopted in Iowa.
