All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

This webinar offers 7.0 PDHs to professional engineers and 7.0 HSW continuing
education hours to architects licensed in New York.

HalfMoon Education is deemed an approved continuing education sponsor for New York

Continuing Education System (Regulations of the Commissioner §68.14(i)(2) and

The American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System has approved this

AIA/CES.

The International Code Council has approved this event for .7 CEUs in the specialty area
of Building (Preferred Provider No. 1232).

Completion certificates will be awarded to participants who complete this event, respond
to all prompts, and earn a passing score (80%) on the quiz that follows the presentation

Speakers

Wendy Talarico LEED AP

Ms. Talarico is an ICC-certified energy/green code plan reviewer and consults with architects and engineers throughout the Northeast to provide continuing education on a range of subjects from codes to building science. She is an instructor for Urban Green/New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s “Conquering the Code”, an 8-hour energy code class in New York State. Ms. Talarico was a member of the engineering outreach team for the Brick Industry Association, and she is an award-winning journalist with more than 25 years of experience as a writer and editor for such publications as Architectural Record and This Old House. Her areas of expertise include building energy, sustainability issues, and codes, including the IECC, ASHRAE 90.1, IEBC, and the IgCC.

Course Title: 2020 Existing Building Code of New York State

Course Description: This course examines provisions and compliance standards in Chapters 1-16 of the 2020 version of the International Existing Building Code (IEBC) as adopted in New York state.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to to explain which buildings/projects to which the IEBC applies, and they will be able to identify and discuss how the code has been adopted and amended in New York.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to reference and comply with IEBC provisions for all compliance methods, including the prescriptive compliance method, work area compliance method, and performance compliance method.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to describe the three levels of alterations for existing buildings, and they will be able to reference structural and plumbing requirements in instances of change of occupancy.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to reference and comply with IEBC provisions for additions to existing buildings, including heights, areas, and structural requirements.
