Course Description: This six-hour course focuses on the wood and steel frame fundamentals for residential and small commercial buildings, including project conception, relevant codes, material and framing choices, prescriptive design, tools and software.

Learners will be able to understand the history and development of conventional wood framing, including the American Wood Council’s National Design Specification (NDS) for Wood Construction and wood framing provisions of the International Building Code.
Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to discuss material and framing choices for wood roofs, floors, beams, posts, trusses, and fasteners.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to review prescriptive design for wind and seismic loads, design tools, and relevant software.
