Each webinar session earns continuing education credit and can be registered for individually. All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Webinars are presented via GoToWebinar, an easy-to-use application that can be run on most systems and tablets. Wood Frame and Steel Frame Design and Construction in New York
This seminar and webcast are open to the public and are designed to qualify for 6.5 PDHs for professional engineers and 6.5 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in New York.

Course Description: This six-hour course focuses on the wood and steel frame fundamentals for residential and small commercial buildings, including project conception, relevant codes, material and framing choices, prescriptive design, tools and software.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to understand the history and development of conventional wood framing, including the American Wood Council’s National Design Specification (NDS) for Wood Construction and wood framing provisions of the International Building Code.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to discuss material and framing choices for wood roofs, floors, beams, posts, trusses, and fasteners.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to review prescriptive design for wind and seismic loads, design tools, and relevant software.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to discuss the AISC and AISI codes as they relate to steel framing, including their applicability and requirements.

Learning Objective 5:
Learners will be able to discuss material and conceptual framing choices for steel roof framing, including truss and stick frames.
