The course reviews state permitting requirements, recent updates to Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) regulations, and current best management practices. The course includes stormwater modeling, volume and rate control, non-structural and structural BMP selection, and the integration of hydrologic and hydraulic design principles.
Learning Objectives:
Learning Objective 1: Learners will be able to locate, interpret, and comply with state and federal stormwater regulations, including PA DEP permit requirements.
Learning Objective 2: Learners will be able to explain how soil composition, terrain, watershed shape, and time of concentration impact water flow and drainage.
Learning Objective 3: Learners will be able to evaluate hydraulic considerations in stormwater management, including erosion potential, flow routing, and stormwater infrastructure modeling.
Learning Objective 4: Learners will be able to select and incorporate appropriate structural and non-structural BMPs based on site conditions, regulatory requirements, and stormwater management objectives.
