All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

This seminar and concurrent webcast are open to the public and are designed to qualify for 6.5 PDHs for professional engineers and 6.5 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in New York. Professionals seeking continuing education credits in other states may be able to claim the hours earned at this event; please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Course Title: Engineered Lumber Design and Construction

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This course analyzes the different types, characteristics and applications of various engineered lumber products (ELP), as well as building design and construction using these products. Products of focus include glued laminated lumber, structural engineered lumber (LVL/PSL/LSL), pre-fabricated wood I-joists, and wood structural panels. The course concludes with a discussion on connections in ELP and ELP in software.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to discuss the types and differences of various products, including wood materials, engineered lumber, structural and non-structural, one-way and two-way products, and their advantages and disadvantages.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to explain how glued laminated lumber is manufactured, its applications in buildings, the use of specialized forms (curved and PTC), and special considerations.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to explain how structural engineered lumber is manufactured and identify its applications in buildings, proprietary designs, NDS design methods, and special considerations.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to discuss pre-fabricated wood I-joists, wood structural panels, connections in engineered lumber products, and ELP in software.
