Continuing Education Credit Information

This seminar is open to the public and offers 7.0 (HSW) continuing education hours to architects and 7.0 continuing education hours to engineers in most states, including Virginia. Educators and courses are not subject to preapproval in Virginia.

This event has been approved by the American Institute of Architects for 7.0 HSW Learning Units (Sponsor No. J885). Only full attendance can be reported to the AIA.

Architects and engineers seeking continuing education credit in other states will be able to apply the hours earned at this seminar, in most cases. Refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

The International Code Council has approved this program for .7 CEUs in the specialty area of Building.

This course offers 7.0 continuing education hours to DHCD building officials, property maintenance officials, and technical assistants employed by a jurisdiction. Educators and courses are not subject to preapproval.

This seminar offers a continuing education opportunity to construction contractors but has not been approved by any state contractor licensing entity.

Attendance will be monitored, and attendance certificates will be available after the seminar for most individuals who complete the entire program. Attendance certificates not available at the seminar will be mailed to participants within fifteen business days.

Vice President of Quality Control, Risk Management and Training atMoseley Architect
sMr. Payne is the “Dean” of Moseley University and has represented AIA-VA since 2000 on workgroups promulgating the building code, including the upcoming adoption of the 2018 VUSBC. He was instrumental in drafting the “rewrite” of the 2015 and 2018 Virginia Existing Building Code, with nearly 50 code change proposals. Mr. Payne is an existing building code instructor at the Jack A. Proctor Virginia Building Code Academy and worked with the Academy committee that developed the 2015 VEBC update and regular training module and content for all code enforcement officials and reviewers. He was appointed by the governor of Virginia to serve on the State Building Code Technical Review Board and has been recognized for his efforts in code development with the following awards: “Presidential Citation” by AIA Virginia, “Jack A. Proctor Meritorious Service Award for Registered Design Professionals” by the Virginia Building Code Officials Association (VBCOA), and “Award for Distinguished Achievement” by AIA Virginia. He has presented in many venues, including: VBCOA annual education conferences, AIA Virginia’s Architectural Exchange East conventions, Virginia Fire Prevention Association training conference, Virginia Governor’s housing conference, SpArc national symposiums, CEFPI regional conference, the National AIA Convention and numerous local building departments and VBCOA regional meetings.
