Heather Demirjian
Cole Schotz P.C.Heather L. Demirjian, an associate at Cole Schotz P.C., devotes her practice entirely to complex state and federal environmental law matters. She represents clients from a wide range of industries on the environmental risks and liabilities in business transactions, real estate development, site remediation projects, enforcement defense, environmental litigation, and industrial and manufacturing operations. Ms. Demirjian has served as an adjunct professor at Rutgers University School of Law in Camden, New Jersey, where she taught a course on environmental litigation. While attending Rutgers University School of Law, she interned for the Environmental Enforcement Section of the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. and for the United States Environmental Protection Agency in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ms. Demirjian is admitted to practice law in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
David Edelstein
Archer & Greiner P.C.David F. Edelstein is a partner in Archer & Greiner P.C.’s litigation department and has been repeatedly recognized as one of the top young environmental litigators in New Jersey by numerous publications. He currently represents Fortune 100 companies, large multinational corporations, and smaller businesses at several of the largest Superfund sites in the country. Mr. Edelstein also has significant experience representing clients in litigation brought pursuant to RCRA, the Clean Water Act, and comparable state statutes. In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Edelstein provides regulatory counsel to clients performing environmental remediation, including negotiations with regulators and municipal governments in several states with respect to the on-going investigation of per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances. He is intimately familiar with the emerging law related to PFAS.
Patrick Mottola
Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PCPatrick T. Mottola serves as counsel to Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC in the Environmental Practice Group. He has extensive experience advising industrial, commercial and developer clients on a variety of issues related to Brownfield redevelopment, site remediation, real estate and corporate transactions, regulatory compliance and permitting, and the resolution of enforcement and litigated matters. Mr. Mottola regularly appears before the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
Sandra Nathans
Schenck, Price, Smith, & King LLPSandra Calvert Nathans is counsel at Schenck, Price, Smith, & King LLP, where she has been involved in a number of large environmental cases involving remediation at New Jersey sites. In addition, she has assisted individual clients with issues at the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection in order to complete remediations. Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Nathans was associated with an insurance defense firm, concentrating her practice in the areas of insurance coverage and environmental liability and coverage litigation. Among the highlights of her professional affiliations was her role at the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (“RIDEM”). She provided counsel to a variety of divisions within RIDEM and concentrated her practice in the areas of water quality and environmental policy, including freshwater wetlands, individual sewerage disposal systems, and water resources.
Laurie Sands
Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland Perretti LLPLaurie J. Sands is counsel in Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland Perretti LLP’s Environmental Group and has focused her legal career on environmental law issues. She represents clients in complex environmental litigation, including claims under CERCLA, RCRA, the Water Pollution Control Act and the New Jersey Spill Act. She has negotiated numerous settlements involving clean-up costs for contaminated sites and natural resource damages. Ms. Sands also routinely counsels clients with respect to regulatory compliance and transactions involving contaminated property. Prior to beginning her legal career, she spent six years at the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. She is a past chair of the Environmental Law Section of the New Jersey Bar Association.
Yin Zhou
Parker McCay P.A.Yin Zhou is chair of the Environmental Law department at Parker McCay P.A. and regularly counsels both private and public entity clients on water resource issues. She has extensive experience in water pollution management, regional water quality management planning, and site remediation and brownfields. As a former Deputy Attorney General, Ms. Zhou advised NJDEP on numerous areas under the Water Resource Management Program, including sewer service amendments, NJPDES permitting and various agency rulemakings. She was also counsel to the Drinking Water Quality Institute during its development of MCL recommendations for the PFAS family of chemicals. In addition to her transactional work, Ms. Zhou is an experienced environmental litigator.
