W. Eric Pitts attended Auburn University where he received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Agricultural (Biosystems) Engineering. While at Auburn, Mr. Pitts was a member of Gamma Sigma Delta, the honor society of the College of Agriculture, and Alpha Epsilon, the national honorary for the Agricultural Engineering discipline. Mr. Pitts received his J.D. degree, cum laude, from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University where he was an associate editor and published member of the American Journal of Trial Advocacy and a member of Curia Honoris. Mr. Pitts has lectured at Auburn University, the international meeting of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers and the annual meeting of the International Erosion Control Association. Mr. Pitts’ publications include: The Role of the Jury in Patent Infringement Actions: Reconciling Markman v. Westview Instruments, Inc. and Warner-Jenkinson Co. v. Hilton Davis Chemical Co., 24 Am. J. Trial Advoc. 623 (2001). Mr. Pitts is licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a patent attorney and has been in private practice since 2001.
