Cervantes, Victor
Pavements Engineer, CEMEXMr. Cervantes graduated from California State University, Northridge (CSUN), with a Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign (U of I). As a college student he conducted research on several topics at CSUN, Carnegie Mellon University, NASAs Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and the U of I. His Master’s thesis focused on minimizing concrete pavement thickness through full scale pavement testing of short slabs. Upon completion of his graduate work, he was hired by the US Navy to develop an airfield concrete pavement material that could resist extremely elevated temperatures and pressures. He currently works for CEMEX as a pavements engineer, promoting the use of cement based paving solutions. When he is not at a construction site or talking about concrete, he lends a helping hand with programs that encourage youth to graduate with post-secondary STEM degrees.
