Tien Peng is National Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s (NRMCA) vice president of sustainability. Based in Seattle, he monitors and provides input to building codes, standards and green protocols. This includes the LEED rating system, Green Globes, the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI), and the International Green Construction Code. For the past two decades, Mr. Peng has been involved in codes and standards as a means to ensure that buildings and facilities are safe, healthy, and energy efficient. He advised the Washington State Legislature on building code adoption as a member of the State Building Code Council. He also facilitated the creation of the LEED Homes rating system for the US Green Building Council (USGBC) as well as current versions of the BuiltGreen program and the Evergreen Development Standard. Mr. Peng serves on the consensus body of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Green Globes document.
Mr. Peng holds a Masters of Architecture degree from the University of Houston and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. His professional accreditations include LEED AP BD+C, Certified Sustainable Building Advisor (CSBA), Certified Green Professional (CGP) from the National Association of Home Builders, Project Management Professional (PMP), and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (LSSGB).
