Mark Stimac , R.A., C.B.O

Mr. Stimac is the owner and president of a building code consulting company called Compliant by Design. In addition to providing educational opportunities on aspects of the application of the building codes, Compliant by Design provides consulting services to municipalities, architects, developers, and building owners on the application of the building codes to provide code compliant and safe buildings. He has over 40 years in the code enforcement profession. 30 years of that was with the City of Troy from where he eventually retired as the Director of Building and Zoning in 2010. Mr. Stimac has served on many code development committees over the years including the Chairman the BOCA and ICC Building Code Interpretation Committees, Vice Chair of the Building Code Change review General Committee, and the ICC Log Structures Standard Development Committee. He has also been the President of numerous inspector associations including the Southeast Michigan Building Officials and Inspectors Association, Oakland County Building Officials Association, and the ICC Region 5. Mr. Stimac is also a registered architect as well as Certified Building Official and has been teaching classes on code related topics since the adoption of Public Act 54.
