Mr. Rabeler has 45 years of geotechnical and materials testing experience on major building and transportation projects throughout the Midwest. Mr. Rabeler also serves as forensic engineer and expert witness providing evaluations or expert opinion in legal cases involving geotechnical engineering failures. He is a licensed professional engineer in six states, and a geotechnical engineer by training. Since joining SME in 1983, he has served as a regional manager, project manager and project director. He currently serves on SME’s Board of Directors. Because of his expertise, Mr. Rabeler has been sought out to perform more than 30 ASFE/GBA peer reviews of other firms across the USA and Canada. Mr. Rabeler has been active in many professional organizations, including ASCE. He has been the state-wide vice-president for MSPE, president of ACEC of Michigan, chair of ASFE/GBA Peer Review committee and member of the Board of Directors, and on the Board of Directors for SMPS/Michigan. His expertise has earned him a number of awards including Young Engineer of the Year in 1986 by the Grand Valley Chapter of MSPE, Engineer of the Year in 1992 by the Grand Valley Chapter of MSPE; Outstanding Engineer in Private Practice by MSPE & ACEC of Michigan in 1997, MSPE Fellow in 2003, and Vern B. Spaulding Leadership Award from ACEC of Michigan in 2017.
