Michael Perry AIA

is a licensed architect in 20 states, principal, and executive vice president of Progressive AE. Mr. Perry serves on the Board of Directors of the Global Universal Design Commission and he frequently writes and presents on the topic of Universal Design in the built environment. He has led several Fortune 500 companies at implementing accessibility and inclusion best practices on a global scale for their built environments. Helping public and private organizations understand the concept of universal design and how it can help in the success of their overall diversity, equality, and inclusion goals is his passion. He served as the principal architect on the Mary Free Bed YMCA, the first campus to be certified by the Global Universal Design Commission. Mr. Perry also continues to actively write and speak on the topic of universal design and has enjoyed presenting at Zero Project in Austria, The University of Notre Dame, Syracuse University, Michigan State University, the US Access Board, the Olympic Training Center, the Inclusion Summit in San Antonio, Disability In conference, SRAPPA conference, and CoreNet New York. He also co-authored a research paper that is published in the Disability and Health Journal titled “Participation by Design – Integrating a social ecological approach with universal design to increase participation and add value for consumers.”
