Ms. Pearson is the Director of the Michigan Geological Survey. With over 30 years of experience in geology, hydrogeology, and environmental management, she has a proven track record in leadership, technical expertise, and program development. As Director, Ms. Pearson oversees research, mapping, and preservation efforts that support the sustainable management of Michigan’s natural resources. Her goal is to continue the revitalization of the Survey, emphasizing collaboration with stakeholders, innovative research, and public education about Michigan’s critical resources, from water to minerals. Ms. Pearson’s career includes roles in state government working for the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), and private industry, where she managed multidisciplinary teams, coordinated multi-agency remediation projects, and provided technical expertise on environmental risk management. She has also developed and delivered training for organizations such as the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG) and the Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council, showcasing her ability to communicate complex geoscientific concepts effectively. Ms. Pearson holds a Master of Science in Earth Science with an emphasis in Hydrogeology from Western Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science in Geography and Environmental Studies from Aquinas College. She is a Certified Professional Geologist (CPG) and current National President of AIPG and an active member of several professional organizations.
