Geotechnical Engineering PhD Candidate at University of Washington
Mr. Makdisi is a PhD Candidate in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Washington. His doctoral research work focuses on earthquake-induced soil liquefaction and its effects on critical infrastructure. Mr. Makdisi received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Davis in 2012, and M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington in 2016. During his Masters studies, he spent 8 months as a visiting researcher at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway. Prior to returning to UW for his Ph.D., he worked for two years as a senior staff geotechnical engineer at Hart Crowser in Seattle, Washington, and has continued to consult on a number of projects around the world. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of California.
