Koncelik, Joseph P.

Mr. Koncelik is uniquely experienced in the areas of environmental law and oil and gas. Mr. Koncelik, a former Ohio EPA director, chief legal counsel, and assistant attorney general during the Taft Administration, uses his 18 years of environmental regulatory experience to help clients efficiently navigate complex governmental agency administration and cost-effectively reach their goals. Mr. Koncelik entered into private practice in 2007, and he counsels clients in all facets of environmental law, including air pollution, water pollution, solid waste, industrial waste, hazardous waste, CERCLA, and water rights. He is experienced in permitting, enforcement defense, regulatory compliance, administrative hearings, real estate transactions, and brownfield redevelopment, and he assists clients in matters involving renewable energy siting and credit trading. In 2006, he served as the governor’s representative in legislative discussions and in the development of Ohio Senate Bill 265, the first major overhaul to the state’s air pollution regulations in more than a decade. Mr. Koncelik also helped draft legislation governing Ohio’s isolated wetlands and the state’s environmental statute of limitations.
