John Staires

John Staires –  Mr. Staires retired in 2020 after 25 years as an electrical inspector and Chief Electrical Inspector for the City of Tulsa, and 5 years as Building Official for the City of Glenpool. He is a current member and past chairman of the ICC Electrical Exam Development Committee. He retired as a Principal Member of the NFPA Technical Committees for NFPA 70B–Recommended Practice for Electrical Equipment Maintenance, and NFPA 790 & 791 – Standards for Electrical Equipment Evaluation. He retired as a member of UL Standards Technical Committees #5, #6, #650, & #1696.  

Mr. Staires served as Chairman of the Oklahoma Uniform Building Code Commission Electrical Technical Committee for the adoption of the National Electrical Code 2014, 2017, and 2020 editions. He is the Past Chairman of the Oklahoma Electrical Examining and Appeals Board, and is a licensed Electrical Contractor and Unlimited Inspector in Oklahoma. He teaches electrical CEU classes in Oklahoma and Arkansas, OSHA 10 and 30 hour outreach training for construction, NFPA 70E classes, and electrical journeyman exam prep classes.  

When not working on his ranch, Mr. Staires currently performs electrical consultations through OKIE Safety Company.
