Jessica N. Foxx

Jessica N. Foxx was born and raised in Independence, Missouri. She attended William Chrisman High School. After high school, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Prior to law school, she worked for seven years as an estate planning and probate paralegal at Stewart, Cook, Constance & Minton, LLC. Jessica then attended the University of Missouri – Kansas City where she graduated with honors and an emphasis in Family Law. During law school, she interned with the Jackson County Circuit Court and the Department of Homeland Security. Jessica was also active in the UMKC Child and Family Services Clinic, where she represented clients under Rule 13 certification in family law matters. She served as president of the Family Law Society, Secretary of the Animal Law Society, and as a staff member for the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Law Journal.

Upon graduation from law school, Jessica was law clerk to the Honorable Jack R. Grate with the Jackson County Circuit Court for two and a half years. During that time, she oversaw numerous civil, criminal, and domestic hearings and trials. She went on from there to start her own law firm, Foxx Law, L.L.C.

She is a published author in the Journal of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the UMKC Law Review. Jessica is the current assistant director at UMKC’s Child and Family Services Clinic, where she supervises law students in dissolution matters, paternity actions, adoptions, minor guardianships, and name changes.

Jessica is licensed to practice law in Missouri and is a certified Guardian ad Litem. Her practice is mainly dedicated to family law. She represents clients in dissolution of marriage, modification of custody and child support actions, establishment and termination of child support actions, adoptions, grandparent’s rights cases, paternity actions, name changes, guardianship and conservatorship proceedings, estate planning, decedents’ estates administration, and traffic tickets.
