Mr. Asp has been active in fire protection for nearly 30 years and has extensive and varied experience in this field. He has held the position of lead layout technician for a fire protection design and consulting firm for many years and currently is the Manager of Codes and Standards for The National Fire Sprinkler Association. Mr. Asp has been involved in thousands of fire sprinkler projects ranging from single family homes to large commercial projects and has gained experience in the varied steps needed to successfully bring a fire sprinkler system from the design phase to completion. His expertise includes installation requirements and layout of water-based fire protection systems and the many aspects of water supplies for these systems. Mr. Asp has written many articles for NFSM Magazine and also participates in and develops industry specific training and presentations related to fire sprinkler systems, including NFSA’s Layout Technician Pathway Class which concentrates on hands-on/interactive training of technicians in all aspect of water-based system layout including manual hydraulic calculations. He has received NICET Engineering Technician Certification in Fire Protection Engineering Technology / Water-Based (Formerly Automatic Sprinkler) Systems Layout – Level III.
