Amy Emerson

Partner at Allensworth & Porter, L.L.P.Ms. Emerson specializes in governmental immunity issues, and she has represented clients in complicated contract disputes, constitutional suits, bond-validation suits and construction matters. Among other accomplishments, she recently defended a city’s zoning authority—winning both at trial and on appeal to the Supreme Court of Texas—and assisted in obtaining the first reservoir permit issued by the State of Texas in almost 30 years. A sought after speaker on topics ranging from contract suits to liability against design professionals, Ms. Emerson has spoken to a range of professional groups, including the Construction Law Section of the Austin Bar Association and the Texas City Attorneys Association, among others. A west Texas native, Ms. Emerson received her J.D. degree with honors from The University of Texas at Austin School of Law, and she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Southwestern University. She is the Austin Young Lawyer representative for the Construction Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.
