Project Manager at CDM Smith in Raleigh, NCMr. Reeder is a nationally-recognized subject matter expert in flood and wind mitigation. He has been an author on approximately 12 publications for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). For the past six years he has been the instructor for FEMA’s Coastal Construction and the Fundamentals of Building Science Classes at the Emergency Management Institute. He was an instructor and developed the course materials for FEMA’s Nonresidential Floodproofing Course and a course utilizing ASCE 24 for flood mitigation projects. Currently he is the technical lead for a FEMA study to evaluate flood mitigation options for multifamily buildings. Mr. Reeder is a primary author on the update to FEMA P-348 Protecting Building Utilities from Flood Damage. In August 2016 Mr. Reeder completed a study for FEMA on the economic benefits of nonresidential flood mitigation in coastal areas. He provided FEMA and the State of Louisiana assistance with the development of grant applications related to hurricane mitigation. In August of 2015 he was requested by the Georgetown University Climate Center to provide a technical review of a paper discussing mitigation efforts after Hurricane Katrina. He was also an advisor to the New York City Planning Department’s Guide to Retrofitting Buildings for Flood Risk and other Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts. Mr. Reeder received his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from The Citadel. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina and South Carolina and is a certified floodplain manager.
