William D. Blake

Attorney
Mr. Blake has built a wealth of litigation experience in eminent domain, condemnation, real estate and commercial disputes in over 35 years of practice. He values the opportunity to advise clients on their rights as property owners and devotes a significant amount of time to educating others about his area of practice. Mr. Blake is a frequently-invited lecturer, locally and nationally, regarding all aspects of condemnation and property rights, and he is a frequent author on these topics. Mr. Blake became a partner at Baylor Evnen in August of 2007, and was previously a partner with Pierson, Fitchett, Hunzeker, Blake & Katt from 1984-2007. Before beginning private practice, Mr. Blake was assistant city attorney for the City of Lincoln, 1975 – 1979 and the chief assistant city attorney, 1979-1984.

Jacob C. Garbison

Mr. Garbison’s practice areas include agricultural law; broker misconduct; civil and commercial litigation; estate planning; general counsel; investor rights; natural resources and environmental law; wills, trusts and powers of attorney. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and earned a bachelor of arts degree in History. He had first joined Mattson Ricketts Law Firm part-time as a clerk while studying at the University of Lincoln College of Law. After graduating with high distinction, Mr. Garbison joined the Mattson Ricketts team full-time as an associate attorney. He is licensed to practice in Nebraska state and federal courts and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Garbison is a member of the Order of the Coif and Three-time CALI Excellence for the Future Award Winner.

Trev E. Peterson

Mr. Peterson’s practice areas include agricultural law, appellate practice, bankruptcy, business and commerce, condemnation, trademark and copyright, real estate, trial advocacy. He has served as his firm’s managing partner and on the firm’s management committee for several terms. Mr. Peterson is a fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, and a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. He was selected in 2007 as a Super Lawyer of the Great Plains, he is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the American, Nebraska and Lincoln bar associations. Mr. Peterson has served as president, vice president and secretary of the Bank Attorney’s Section of the Nebraska State Bar Association, and he is currently the vice president of the Bankruptcy Section of the Nebraska State Bar Association. Mr. Peteron obtained his juris doctorate degree from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln with high distinction in 1981. He was selected as a member of the Order of the Coif, a law school scholastic honorary society and was a member of the Nebraska Law Review from 1979-81. Mr. Peterson obtained his bachelor of arts degree in 1978, also from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, where he was selected as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Hannes D. Zetsche

Mr. Zetzsche counsels clients on agricultural, energy, environmental, and natural-resources legal matters. He represents clients in large-scale transactions to develop, finance, acquire, lease, and sell land and natural resources. Mr. Zetsche has experience dealing with general real-estate matters, environmental liability, and an array of natural resources, including carbon sequestration, mineral rights, renewable energy, water rights, and wetlands. He also assists clients with hemp and liquor regulatory issues. After attending college at the University of Portland, Mr. Zetsche managed a 1,500-acre hay farm in central Oregon. He then moved to Nebraska to attend law school. At the University of Nebraska College of Law, he earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in five subjects (administrative law, civil clinic, environmental law, Native American law, and water law) and was named the Civil Clinic Student of the Year. Mr. Zetsche helped to lead the law school’s environmental and equal-justice societies, served as a junior staff editor on the University of Denver Water Law Review, and was recognized by the Nebraska State Bar Association as an outstanding advocate. Before joining the firm, Hannes worked as a judicial clerk to the Chief Justice of the Nebraska Supreme Court, Hon. Michael G. Heavican.

Mr. Smith has more than three decades of experience as an attorney, in which he has successfully handled a number of complex water disputes, land use disputes, takings claims, and other issues. He has argued over 30 appeals to the Utah Supreme Court. Mr. Smith has represented public and private parties in takings claims arising from land use decisions, represented numerous water users in successful settlement of instream flow claims on the San Rafael River, and won appeals for municipalities and water entities before the Utah and New Mexico Supreme Courts. His most notable projects include securing the water rights for Duchesne City through an act of Congress, successfully entitling and securing water rights for a multimillion-dollar resort in Kane County, and creating the first municipal natural gas utility in Utah.

John B. Stahl

John B. Stahl is a professional land surveyor and president of Cornerstone Professional Land Surveys, Inc. has been involved in land surveying, engineering and related fields since 1976, specializing in boundary retracement and boundary dispute resolutions and litigations. He is licensed in the States of Utah and Montana. In addition to the operation of his business, Mr. Stahl serves as an adjunct professor at Salt Lake Community College where he lectures 54 hours per year on the fundamental elements of Land Boundary Law. Mr. Stahl was formerly the instructor for the Land Survey Mathematics and Ethics & Liability Courses. He also participates annually in Boundary Law Seminars for the National Business Institute (NBI) and HalfMoon Education. He is also a member of the Utah Council of Land Surveyors (UCLS) serving as its chair in 1992. Mr. Stahl takes an active role in education and legislative concerns of the profession.

Mr. Stahl provides expert witness services and assistance to attorneys, title companies, developers and land owners. He can assist with the necessary title research, historical research and analysis of land boundary or title problems. His insight and expert application of legal principles affecting the location of boundary lines or the rights, title or interests of property will provide an element of certainty necessary for knowledgeable, informed decisions. Mr. Stahl can provide input and assistance in the litigation process in the preparation of complaints, responses, interrogatories, and requests for production. Ralph Cantafio

Mr. Cantafio is a partner with Cantafio & Song PLLC. He is also lecturer (adjunct professor) teaching in the Global Energy Management Program at the University of Colorado, Denver. With over 30 years of legal experience, including acting as lead counsel in more than 100 jury trials, his practice focuses on oil and gas law as well as a wide scope of commercial transactions and litigations. His education includes not only a juris doctorate degree from the University of Colorado School of Law, but a Master of Science degree in Mineral Economics from the prestigious Colorado School of Mines and a Master of Science degree in Global Energy Management from the University of Colorado-Denver, where he now teaches. He has also earned two professional oil and gas certificates in Petroleum Land Management and Energy Finance from the University of Denver. He is a member of the Judicial Performance Committee for the 14th Judicial District having been nominated by the Chief Judge of the 14th Judicial District and approved by the Chief Justice of the Colorado Supreme Court. Mr. Cantafio is also one of 139 attorneys, also approved by the Chief Justice of the Colorado Supreme Court, acting on the Colorado Supreme Court Hearing Board responsible for adjudicating cases involving claims of ethical violations by Colorado attorneys. Mr. Cantafio served as the Municipal Judge of Oak Creek, Colorado from 2008 through 2017 as well as a Board of Director Member of the Old Town Hot Springs (formerly the Steamboat Springs Health and Recreation Center) also from 2008 through 2017.

Mr. Connors is a shareholder with Doney Crowley P.C. His practice areas include environmental litigation, regulations, permitting, construction law, natural resource development, real property and easement litigation, administrative law and appeals from agency actions, water law and Water Court litigation. Mr. Connors is a member of the Montana Bar Association. He brings a unique perspective to the practice of law. After obtaining a degree in Mathematics from Montana State University, he founded and operated Connors Construction, LLC, which specialized in building multi-million dollar custom residences in Big Sky, Montana. He always had an interest in the complex nature of the law and chose to couple his ten years of small business, real estate, and natural resources expertise with a Juris Doctorate degree. In 2013, Mr. Connors graduated with honors from the University of Montana School of Law. While still in law school, he clerked for The Institute for Justice and Pacific Legal Foundation defending property rights and other civil liberties, including eminent domain, regulatory takings, civil asset forfeiture, and free speech. After law school and before joining Lund Law PLLC he clerked for the Honorable Ashley Harada of Montana’s 13th Judicial District.
